Our next NARFE Chapter 1135 meeting will be Thursday August 8 at the St. Charles Care Center at noon.  The St. Charles Care Center started as a nursing home and has reinvented itself.  A representative from the St. Charles Care Center will provide a tour of the newly remodeled St. Charles campus and will provide an overview of the services offered, such as rehab and the senior day care program.

We meet at Level C of the Lodge Building at St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Dr. in Covington.  The luncheon is $7.  Make luncheon reservations by calling Jane Wischer at 859-426-7801 by August 1.

NARFE initiated a clip your coupons and save your COLA campaign.  Some supporters of the Chained CPI stated that clipping a few more coupons would make up the difference in benefits if the Chained CPI approach were approved.  However, NARFE calculates that retirees would lose $48,000 in benefits over 25 years.  NARFE District IV Vice President Marlene Bunten requests that members bring unwanted coupons with them to our next meeting so that she can forward all the coupons from the Northern Kentucky Chapters to the NARFE headquarters

The District IV Picnic is approaching and will be held on Saturday September 21 at noon at the Freedom Park in Edgewood.  Marlene is taking reservations and her phone number is 859-331-8642.  The cost is $8.

Our semi-annual NARFE Chapter 1135 meeting at the Golden Corral will be Thursday, July 11, 2013.  The Golden Corral is located on Orphanage Road in Ft. Wright, KY, which is near the Wal-Mart Plaza.  Please gather at the front of the restaurant at the special start time of 1pm and then proceed to the meeting room in the front right corner of the building.
Chapter 1760 will be packing boxes again for Servicemen in Afghanistan. This is a good cause and they would appreciate any donations, goods or cash.  Please bring your donations to the meeting at the Golden Corral. If you have relatives in the war zone, please provide them of their address.
Please note that we will return to the St. Charles Lodge for the August and subsequent Chapter 1135 meetings.
